White Cheddar and Mushroom Tart

Ingredients

1 unbaked 9inch23cm frozen deep dish pie shell

2 ½ cups625mL sliced cremini mushrooms

¼ cup60mL chopped shallots

2 tbsp30mL butter

3 eggs

1 can354mL Carnation® Regular or 2% Evaporated Milk

½ tsp2mL salt

½ tsp2mL pepper

2 tsp10mL hot sauce

1½ cups375mL grated white cheddar

Directions

  1 Preheat oven at 375ºF (190ºC).

  2 Melt butter in a frying pan until melted. Add shallots and sauté until they begin to soften about 2 minutes.

  3 Add mushrooms and sauté until mushrooms are tender and beginning to brown, about 8 minutes. Reserve

  4 Whisk eggs, evaporated milk, salt, pepper and hot sauce in a large bowl.

  5 Stir in grated white cheddar and mushrooms.

  6 Pour filling into crust.

  7 Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and just set in the centre. Cool for 15 minutes and serve.
