Ingredients
- 375 g bacon, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- hot pepper flakes to taste
- Carnation White Sauce
- 1 egg yolk
- chopped parsley, optional
- 1 lb (454 g) cooked spaghetti
- Parmesan cheese, optional
Directions
Step 1:
Cook bacon on medium high heat in large skillet until crispy. Reduce heat to low and drain off fat if desired. Add garlic and chili flakes and cook over low until garlic is soft, but not brown. Remove from heat. Meanwhile, prepare white sauce according to directions. Remove about 1 tsp (5 mL) of hot prepared white sauce and quickly combine with egg yolk in small bowl. This will raise the temperature of the egg yolk and will prevent it from scrambling in the sauce. Add another 2 tsp (10 mL) of hot white sauce to egg yolk and then add egg yolk mixture back into hot sauce. The heat from the hot sauce will cook the yolk. Toss with hot spaghetti and add bacon mixture. Mix in parsley and parmesan if using. Serve immediately.
